We are requesting an API endpoint that allows us to programmatically upload the GitLab User Mapping (CSV) file to Glean, rather than requiring a manual upload through the Admin UI.


Glean uses a GitLab user mapping file to properly map GitLab users within the platform. Because Glean cannot directly query GitLab for user mappings, Zapier generates this file via a Python script. Given Zapier's company size and the frequency with which GitLab users change (new engineers joining, others leaving), this file needs to be updated monthly or more frequently.


Currently, our engineer generates a fresh mapping CSV weekly via a Python automation. Despite this automation existing, the file must then be manually handed off so it can be downloaded and re-uploaded through the Glean Admin UI. This is a painfully manual bottleneck that breaks the otherwise-automated workflow.


Provide an API endpoint (or documented GCP bucket path / upload mechanism) that allows us to:

Upload the GitLab User Mapping file programmatically

Integrate this step directly into our existing Python-based automation

Our engineer can call the API or write to a GCP bucket directly from the Python script that generates the CSV, eliminating the manual handoff entirely. We are flexible on format — the file can be produced in any format Glean specifies.


Eliminates manual overhead on a recurring monthly task

Reduces risk of mapping files going stale between manual uploads
