 Avalara is on our own hosted LLM key (Customer Key), meaning our LLM defaults to whatever model is set under our tenant's LLM Defaults — in our case, Anthropic Claude via Vertex AI. However, Glean Chat's mode picker still displays "Auto" as the selected mode, with the subtitle "Selects the best model."

), dynamic best-fit model selection is only available on the Glean Universal Model Key — not on Customer Key deployments. Support confirmed this in a recent ticket: on Customer Key, "Auto" is just a static default label, and no dynamic model switching is actually occurring behind it. The label isn't currently tied to key type, so it displays the same regardless of whether best-fit selection is active.

We'd like this changed so that Customer Key tenants see the actual model name in use (e.g., "Claude" or the specific configured model) instead of "Auto," since "Auto" implies dynamic selection that isn't happening.


 All end users interacting with Glean Chat in Customer Key tenants (i.e., any organization not on the Glean Universal Model Key).

 Users see "Auto — Selects the best model" and reasonably assume Glean is dynamically picking their model per conversation. This is misleading on Customer Key deployments and can erode trust in the product once users learn (as we did) that it's actually static.

 This ambiguity generates avoidable support tickets (as evidenced by our own ticket) that could be prevented with accurate UI labeling.

 Showing the real model name helps users understand what they're actually interacting with, which matters for reasoning about output quality, latency, and cost.


 None. Per Glean Support, there is no admin setting to change this label today — it's a product/UI gap, not a tenant misconfiguration. The only way users currently learn the real model is by asking an admin or Support directly.
