We understand that the Teams connector currently supports limiting the crawl scope by time period (e.g., the last N days). However, since messages are handled at the individual message level rather than at the thread level, applying a time-based filter can exclude the parent message or some of the replies within a thread, causing the conversational context to be lost. As a result, this may degrade search quality and the quality of Glean Assistant's responses, and therefore the use of time-based crawl limits is currently not recommended.

We would like to request that the Teams connector be enhanced to retrieve and index messages at the thread level, rather than at the individual message level. By treating each thread (the parent message together with its associated replies) as a single unit during retrieval and indexing, applying crawl conditions such as time-based filters would consistently include or exclude the entire thread, preventing any loss of conversational context.

With thread-based retrieval and indexing, customers will be able to apply filters such as time-based limits without losing conversational context, allowing them to optimize data volume, cost, and performance while preserving search accuracy and the quality of Glean Assistant's responses. This is an important capability for customers operating large-scale Teams environments, and we would greatly appreciate your consideration.
