Currently the Auto Select feature on Models in Chat and Search is choosing the best premium models which is overkill for most tasks.   This is very wasteful.  

As the Admin I would like to be able to set the default model to the best non premium general model (Currently Gemini 3.1 Pro as of 8/4/26).   I would still like to give users the option to manually select premium models.    

Currently the only way I can get Gemini 3.1 Pro to be the default is by completely removing access to Anthropic and OpenAI models.
