Gleaners 👋 how can users best get started with Glean? Should we be accessing through Okta or the app? Any tips for newbies?!
I get my day started via the desktop app (mainly use that one for the chat/agents function) and making Glean my homepage so I can search for whatever I need immediately when I open a new tab!
I use the mobile app a lot — it's great for finding stuff on my little bitty phone screen so I don't have to scroll through a zillion SaaS apps. Also, it's fantastic for finding stuff in Slack that I can't find using the native Slack search
Use the chrome extension and make Glean your chrome homepage! Admins should take advantage of the announcements space for internal updates!
When I first started using Glean, I had also just started at a new company so I used it to find out who I should talk to. Told it what my main areas of focus / ownership would be and asked it who I should talk to that had already been working on those areas. Got a lot of obvious people but also a bunch of net new folks my manager had forgotten or didn't know about!
When I started a new job and was first getting onboarded with Glean, the org chart function was incredibly helpful – I still refer back to it frequently to understand cross-functional teams.
Strong +1. Org chart is a not-often-talked-about Glean superpower. SO USEFUL.
This one! You also get access to the Glean sidebar - Type Command + J on Mac and Alt + J on Windows to open a nifty sidebar with 3 tabs: personalized discovery, contextual chat, and intelligent search. Try it out!
+1 for the chrome extension! I love having Glean as my homepage whenever I open a new tab.
I have the Glean browser plug-in so when I start computer for the day Glean is there! :) It has a great summary of your day, calendar events, important company announcements etc. You can ask Glean what should you do to ramp on week 1, week 2 etc. to get rolling quick here at Glean as well.
+1! I use the mobile app every single day in the morning as I'm gearing up for work. It's pinned on my home screen so I can easily prepare for my day.
