I am submitting a feature request regarding the recent changes to the Glean Assistant interface.
Previously, Glean Assistant offered a feature that allowed users to manually select and remove specific sources via the GUI, and then regenerate the answer based on the remaining documents.
However, this functionality was removed in a recent update:https://docs.glean.com/release-notes/sunset/assistant
I understand the rationale behind this decision. With the transition to the next-generation Glean Assistant powered by highly advanced LLMs, the system is designed to provide accurate answers without needing manual source curation. While I appreciate the technological advancements, removing this control has negatively impacted the user experience.
Compared to the previous seamless GUI workflow—where users could quickly select, remove, and regenerate—having to instruct the AI to exclude sources via text prompts feels cumbersome and less efficient.
Furthermore, for users who are not familiar with prompt engineering, relying on text instructions can cause unnecessary confusion. A GUI-based approach ensures that all users, regardless of their prompting skills, can benefit from the tool equally and effectively.
Although this feature has already been deprecated, I strongly urge you to consider reinstating the ability to manually remove sources via the GUI.
Thank you for your consideration.
