Currently, when users initiate a chat via the Glean browser extension's pop-up dialog (such as by highlighting text and clicking the Glean icon), the chat session and its content are temporary. If the user clicks outside the pop-up or closes it, the chat and its responses are lost and do not appear in the main Glean Chat History. This can lead to frustration and loss of valuable information, especially if the user is in the middle of reading or interacting with the response.
Customer Use Case(s):
- Users want to revisit, reference, and continue conversations started from the browser extension pop-up, even after the pop-up is closed or dismissed.
- Users have reported losing valuable information when the pop-up is accidentally closed, especially while reading or interacting with AI responses.
Business Impact to Glean and/or Customer:
- Reduces user frustration and prevents accidental loss of valuable chat content.
- Increases user trust and adoption of the Glean browser extension for in-context workflows.
- Aligns Glean's chat experience more closely with user expectations and competitive offerings.
- Supports productivity by allowing users to reference and build upon previous interactions, regardless of how the chat was initiated.
